Original painted on 22"x30" 140lb. French Arches watercolor paper. I have put around 20-25 hours into this piece so I would really appreciate some comments.

The title... Yes, there is meaning. The entire painting has a large double image (with negative space) created within it. See if you can see it.

The original is much clearer around the edges too because I had to take a picture of it.

Enjoy!

Daily Deviation

Given 2004-05-12
It is not often that we see a piece of artwork that is so surreal that our eyes have a nice trip going through the canvas. Esoteric Libido by ~profane is one of those works. There is so much to see, well painted, and it is all connected smoothly so that our eyes flow, rather than jump around. A must-see! ( Featured by `dinyctis )

I would like to comment that the biomorphic objects you use is not original, if original is the term you like to use. Its very common to see that you copied your style from De chirico, Dali, and Other Surrealist. I hope you move on with a newer version cause im tired of seeing copycats like you.

I never claimed that all of the objects in this particular painting to be completely original. There are elements that have been used to create allusions to previous paintings, etc. You do realize that both artists that you've mentioned have done the same thing by borrowing symbolism/objects/compositional attributes from previous artists? I would never say I haven't been influenced by the two mentioned artists, but to pass my painting off merely as a copycat is pretty funny to me, especially when half of your drawings have obvious elements taken from Dali paintings. Regardless, thanks for the comment.
